Civil status registers
Parochial
Parochial registers have been carried out by local churches since 1451, from the first baptism register of Roz Landrieux up to the Revolution and the creation of civil registration. In the same category are included : protestant registers and hospital mortuary registers.
Civil Status
Civil status registers are kept by towns since 1793. With time we find additional information like the margin mentions and recent certificates like divorces or trial sentences.
Catholicity
Catholicity registers are kept by parishes since 1803. They are very useful to some towns whose registers have been destroyed during wars. Part of the refractory priests' registers can be classified in this category.
These readings are not digital copies nor full transcriptions. They are produced thanks to systematic perusals and offered under various forms : non-filiatives certificates, filiative without witness, filiative with witness. The transcription quality or paleography of the acts is optimum, however confusions remain possible. The website takes no responsibility in case of error and recalls the customers that the readings are made by volunteers who are experienced who are in good faith.
